Note that the Salon Centric Credit Card is only available to beauty professionals. It’s not open to the general public. When signing up, you’ll be asked to provide your cosmetic/beauty license along with your credit card.

We were pleasantly surprised to learn more about this card. Read on to learn more about what we found out after reviewing all the fine print.

Salon Centric Credit Card executive summary

  • 4% store credit on all purchases. Which is higher than what we’ve seen with other beauty credit cards, like the Cosmoprof Credit Card. This is also double what you might get with a generic cash back 1.5-2.0% card, a critical bonus on your supplies and equipment purchases in the razor-thin-margins Salon business.
  • 20% off your first purchase with the card.
  • No annual fee.
  • There are about ~20 Salon Centric locations that don’t participate in this rewards program. See below for the full list.

PFG's Rating:

Recommended. Since the Salon business has notoriously thin margins we think every percentage point is worth fighting for here. This card offers a higher percent rewards rate than we’ve seen elsewhere in the beauty business. While we generally prefer cash back to store credit, a card like this is an exception, since Salon owners will almost assuredly use the credit on their next supply run.

Thinking of getting a cash back credit card instead?

Check out our credit card comparison tool to quickly and easily compare cash back rates, rewards, fees, and more!

The Salon Centric credit card gives you 4% reward back on all your SalonCentric purchases, which looks like a $10 reward for every 250 points you earn.

However, you cannot use the card anywhere other than at SalonCentric, and the APR is high, so you might end up paying a lot of interest if you do not pay off your credit card balance carefully each month.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about the SalonCentric credit card, including its pros and cons and how you can earn SalonCentric rewards.

Focus on: Making sure you actually get the full 4% back

Salon Centric does do one sneaky thing that we found buried in the terms and conditions.

Once your points are converted into ‘rewards certificates,’ which is how you actually go and use your store credit, then that reward certificate expires at the end of the following month. Since your reward certificates are automatically created in increments of $10 every time you hit 250 points (e.g., $250 in spending), this might happen at a time when you weren’t planning to visit Salon Centric soon and they could expire worthless.

We don’t love this and it’s something to watch out for.

It means this card is best for Salon owners or shoppers who are making weekly or monthly supply runs to Salon Centric. If you’re only visiting a couple of times per year, then you may not end up getting the 4% rewards rate and might be better off with a generic cash-back card

Additional details: benefits of the SalonCentric Credit Card

While there are some drawbacks to the card, if you shop at SalonCentric enough, you may find that the benefits below make it worth getting the card. But, if you do not shop here enough, the card is likely not worth it.

4% store credit rewards are the main reason to get this card

The biggest draw of the SalonCentric credit card is the rewards you earn when you use the card. These rewards get you savings on purchases you make at SalonCentric. The 4% rate can be a nice cut to supply and equipment costs for Salons operating on tight margins.

With the SalonCentric card, you earn 4% back on every purchase with the card, which comes in the form of SalonCentric points. Once you earn 250 points back on your purchases, you will get a $10 reward to use at SalonCentric.

Savings on classes: a small, one-time extra benefit

Another benefit you get as a SalonCentric credit card holder is 20% off education classes at SalonCentric. This benefit is only a one-time offer, and you are only allowed to use the discount on the class if your account is not in default and you must make a purchase along with the class.

The discount is sent to your email on the day of the class, and you have to access the offer through your email address, so make sure it is up to date when you apply for the card. You cannot combine this discount with any other offers.

There’s also a very small bonus for ‘Shop & Learn’ events

SalonCentric holds brand shop & learn events where brands will help you learn skills, and you can shop for their products.

You get an extra 5% off a purchase at one of these events with your SalonCentric credit card. You only receive this offer once with your card, and you cannot combine the discount with any other offers.

You need to put a purchase on your SalonCentric credit card to receive this discount. And you cannot combine the offer with any other discounts.

There are occasionally additional promotions and savings

As a SalonCentric credit card holder, you may also get additional limited-time promotions to help you save money on your purchases at the salon.

These promotions are not always available, and they are typically available on rotating types of products. For example, you might get an extra percentage discount on certain products like shampoos.

You should not count on these promotions and savings to help you save money and earn rewards since there is no way to know when they will be available. But you should be aware of them and keep an eye on your email for when they are available.

My recent experience at SalonCentric

I recently went down to my local Salon Centric to check out the in-store experience for myself.

Even though I’m not a beauty professional, the staff was helpful, kind, and welcoming.

The store was clean, well-stocked, and not too busy.

As I’ve seen with a lot of store credit cards, the local staff was not too knowledgeable or concerned about their credit card. I don’t mind this since I don’t like pushy salespeople, but I always find it a little surprising. They seemed willing to take my info if I wanted to sign-up but weren’t very interested beyond that. This is always shocking since I know that credit card sign-ups are often a corporate priority since they tend to be so profitable and drive loyalty.

Overall the in-store experience was just fine.

Where is my SalonCentric Credit Card login?

You can sign into your SalonCentric credit card account, which will allow you to pay your bills, see your current balance, and be alerted of any current offers available to you as a SalonCentric credit card holder.

You need to wait until you get your SalonCentric credit card in the mail to register for an account, as you will need your card number to complete the sign-up process.

And, if you get locked out of your SalonCentric credit card login because you forgot your username or password, you can get back in by providing some information to prove your identity.

Here is the information you will need to provide if you forgot your SalonCentric login information:

  • Account number or username
  • Zip code
  • Social security number

How to pay your Salon Centric bill without an online account

You also have the option to set up EasyPay, which allows you to pay your SalonCentric credit card bill without an online account.

Where to use the SalonCentric Credit Card

You can use your SalonCentric credit card at stores, online at SalonCentric.com, or in a purchase with a Salon Success Consultant.

You can find a SalonCentric location using the store finder. If you want to shop online, your purchase will be shipped to you. Or, you can shop in the SalonCentric app.

Remember there are a few SalonCentric franchises where your credit card will not be accepted. You will have to use a different payment method at these locations.

If you have a SalonCentric credit card, you should make sure you are using your card on all purchases made at SalonCentric to maximize your points.

SalonCentric rewards: one last detail

As mentioned above, one of the benefits of using the SalonCentric credit card is that you are earning rewards to use in-store as you use the card.

The downside to this type of reward system is that you can only use the card and redeem your rewards at SalonCentric, and you cannot earn any other type of reward or cash back.

SalonCentric’s free loyalty program is called Level Loyalty Rewards, and you will earn points in the program when you use your credit card.

Make sure you join the loyalty program before you apply for the SalonCentric credit card so you can start earning points as soon as you start using your card.

Wait. What is Comenity Bank?

The Salon Centric credit card is issued by Comenity Bank, which issues MasterCard credit cards. Comenity technically represents Comenity Bank or any of its affiliates, but Comenity bank is the subsidiary of Bread Financial, which has recently rebranded to Bread Savings. This is significant because they host well over 100 different Credit Card brands which have notoriously high-interest rates.
